Parvati Temple & Hill The famous Parvati Temple, dedicated to the Hindu deities namely, Parvati, Vishnu, Ganesha, Kartikeya and Devadeshwar is located on the southern part of Pune in Parvati hill at an altitude of 2100 feet above sea level. The location of the temple on the hills adds to its beauty that attracts locals and visitors who throng this place in large numbers. To reach the main temple visitors and devotees have to climb 108 steps and from here thy can have a panoramic view of the city.

Parvati Temple was built by the third Peshwa, Shrimant Nana Saheb in 1749 AD. According to legends Kashibai the mother of third Peshwa was suffering from an incurable ailment and was advised to climb a temple of Goddess which had miraculous healing powers and was located on top of a hill. She climbed the hill to reach the temple and prayed for her health and recovered from her ailment. As a mark of gratitude the Parvati Temple was built by her son.

Another attraction located close to the Parvati Temple is Peshwa Museum which is housed inside the palace built by Shrimant Peshwa in 1795 AD. The museum boasts of a fine collection of portraits of all Peshwas along with ancient artifacts like arms, coins, weapons and useful articles. Apart from the temple other attractions worth visiting for tourists at Parvati hills are the famous Sarasbaug Ganesh Temple, Vetal Chabutara, Mangir Buwa, Math and Sati Monument.
