Chaturshringi Temple, located on a hillock near the Senapati Bapat road is considered to be one of the top religious places in Pune. Dedicated to Hindu Goddess Chaturshringi the temple is believed to be dating back to the period of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Goddess Chaturshringi is being worshipped throughout India by different names like Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati and Ambareshwari.

According to the legends the temple was built by a trader who was a staunch believer of the Goddess. He used to visit all the temples dedicated to the Goddess but when he became old the Goddess herself came in his dreams and ordered him to build a temple. The temple of Goddess Chaturshringi is being maintained by the Chaturshringi Devasthan Trust and inside the temple complex there are other temples dedicated to Goddess Durga and Lord Ganesha. The temple is visited by thousands of worshippers especially during the month of October when the annual Navratri festival is organized inside the temple complex.
